Celebrating Our First Harvest: Kale and Basil from CERRI’s Greenhouse

We are thrilled to share an exciting milestone at the Chisasibi Eeyou Resource and Research Institute (CERRI) – our first harvest of kale and basil! This achievement marks a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and community well-being.

After months of dedicated work in our geodesic dome, we finally reaped the rewards of our labor with an abundant harvest of fresh, vibrant kale and fragrant basil. These plants were cultivated with care, drawing on both modern agricultural practices and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK).

We proudly delivered our freshly harvested produce to the local Coop here in Chisasibi. The response from our community was overwhelming – our kale and basil were gone within a day! It was heartwarming to see our neighbors eager to incorporate these fresh, locally grown greens into their meals.

Our goal has always been to foster a closer connection between our community and the food we eat. By providing farm-to-table produce, we encourage everyone to be part of this sustainable movement. We believe that when we grow together, we grow stronger.

And the excitement doesn't stop here! Our tomatoes are ripening soon, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Keep an eye out for the announcement of our next harvest. We look forward to continuing this journey with you, bringing more fresh, nutritious, and locally grown produce to our tables.

Together, we can make a difference in our community, one harvest at a time. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.
